Hi guys, first post and haven not seen anythoing similar, sorry if repeating.

my central heating y system header and feed tank? works fine, although when water is emptied from the tank (hot) for shower bath etc... when refilling and heating it makes a squelching noise, only for a few min until it seem that the tank has been refilled. then the system heats water and then switches to rads as normal.

is these are these noise correct?

appreciate your help
jamie

i am not 100% sure what you mean, sorry (proper novice). it only happens when hot water has been used in large volume shower or bath.is either of the items a serious problem and what will happen, will i just one day have no hot water in the morning?thanks

No problem being a novice. We all start somewhere. The three port valve is just off of the cylinder (usally). You did say it is a Y plan right. Easily changed but you should get an electrician to connect the wires. Parts are about 180 and labor is about 60. If you hire a heating engineer you wouldn't need a sparky to connect it up.

hi guys,

thanks for the advice, i have been in to the loft and the ball valve all work perfectly. the noise comes from the pipe that hangs over the small tank (feed tank i think)

it is more like a gurgling noise, not constant and only goes on until water has been heated for use from the hot water tank.

have i been over paranoid and this is just normal venting of air from the system?
i placed tissue paper under the pipe and there is no drag or pull?

thanks

jamie
