Thanks

Step 1: isolate water to valve
Step 2: remove gate valve
Step 3: remove olives and nuts
Step 4: install lever valve
Done.

no play in pipe, despite picture think it's bigger than 22, don't want to muck about with slips couplers etc

Isn't that the cold feed to the HW cylinder or other? You sure there's no play? Have you undone nuts to see? You'll need to measure pipe then if you think it's imperial. I guess you could strip the cock down like any other tap and re- seat it, grease it and repack it?

Isolate water
Open valve
Undo face
Soak in like scale remover
Clean with wool
Clean scale from valve faces in body with small file and wool

Flush

Re assemble

Undo gland nut clean pack and grease tighten up.

Is everyone looking at a different picture to me? I can't see a gate valve, all I can see is a 22mm stop tap and an undersized vent pipe.

Oh and don't bother servicing the stop tap. Rip it out, chuck it in the scrap bin and fit a full bore lever valve instead.

Oops, on closer inspection yes it's a stop tap .

Same procedure just re seat and re washer

Yeah I meant stop tap.

Picture is very misleading, it's not 22. Prob next size up whatever that is/was, 35mm?

Directly above is massive, walled-in tank. Pipe goes down and tight into wall. No play. Servicing sounded the best plan.

whats the problem with it ? if its not shutting of it needs a washer if you cant turn it it needs the stuffing box loosening and some wd and possibly some heat then repacking
