Hi

We have just bought a three-storey four bedroom house with a 15 year-old Glowworm boiler (either 100 or 120 FF). It isn't working properly and is either getting stuck on, regardless of reaching the thermostat temperature, or getting stuck off, with a small flame visible and the ignition clicking, but without the radiators heating up.

We have had a plumber round and he has put this down to the valves getting stuck. He has suggested putting a new boiler in.

Any views on this? Is it worth getting it repaired or would we just be throwing good money after bad? Does the boiler need replacing? If it does, any recommendations for models and also any guidance on what it should be costing for supply and installation?

Thanks for any advice.

its 15 years old, gets 3 quotes for replacement boiler and save on the gas used in future

Its at the end of its life, at this point you can replace one part and the next month another will fail.
thats not even considering the efficiency of the boiler
as said grab three quotes for a new boiler.
it could pay to update more than that but that would be looked at during the site assessment.

Post up in the this section (see below) to get a few quotes off the forum members.
