stopcocks

have been asked to locate or install stopcocks in a series of tenement flats, some are fine but others have been refurbished and stopcocks seem to have been incorporated into the fabric of the building. what is the best way to approach this if i can`t locate at all, landlord needs info as some houses are HMO `s .
