Went to a job a week or so ago, customer complaining of noise coming from upstairs mostly when the downstairs toilet is flushed and some times when the washing machine is used.
checked ball valve on cwst, ball float half full of water and valve knackered. Replaced it thinking this must be the issue. The tank is only feeding the cylinder for what it's worth, all cold outlets are mains.
Sent back today
The noise hasn't occurred while I have been there but the customer has recorded it for me. The noise comes from upstairs in the bathroom, whistling and banging. Another guy had been out today before me and replaced the diaphragm on the downstairs toilet fill valve. Problem still going.
If I turn the cold tap at the basin upstairs on and off you can hear a slight banging, not a cartridge tap.
no cartridges on any taps.
im thinking dodgy stopcock?
can anyone else suggest what to check. I was unable to change the stopcock as the meter doesn't shut off, southern water are coming to fix that before I go back, I have told the customer to get them to check for any issues with the supply.
any ideas?
