Strange tank setup

Hi, I came across a strange tank setup the other day which I had never seen before, I am interested to know how it works.

Basically it was 2 storage tanks of equal size next to each other in attic.

15mm cold feed to tank 1, cold down service out from bottom of tank 1 to job, with a branch off to the underneath of tank 2.

2x individual vent pipes both terminating over tank 1 (the one with the cold feed)

Tank 2 does not have a ball valve, it is filled from the feed tapped into the base of the tank.

Is this just 2 cwsc's connected together? If so is this the usual way of linking them.

Btw, I'm commercial and very seldom work on cwsc's.

I think it is as you suggest. 2 tanks combined. I plumbed them into my bosses house like this as he had a mega 5 bar pump to pump both hot and cold supplies. We put 2 equilibrium valves on the one tank and a couple of 22mm service valves on bottom to drain down

Water should flow across the two tanks to avoid stagnation. It's in the WRAS book.

i would say this is incorrect. with two linked tanks, inlet should be on one and outlets on the other to keep water relatively fresh.

I didn't get the chance to look how many cylinders Stan, custard said 1 cyl and 1 very old boiler, but I couldn't see an f and e tank anywhere, had to go in a hurry though so didn't get time to have a proper look

Must have been a priamatic cylinder then my man John
