Evening Folks,

A customer of mine has an old rad with the air bleed valve on the back. Someone has previously brocken part of the valve and although a rad key fits it, I can't get it to turn without slipping. Does anyone know where I can get a better bleed valve key to try? I've tried spraying with WD40 and and will keep giving that a go in the hope that'll free up!

Cheers,
Pete.

Hi Pete,

I hate it when that happens ! Have you tried telling them they need a new radiator ? 😉

Cheers John, as the customer is also mate I'd rather try and find a way around that as my time goes for free (well - for a beer) but a new rad will cost!

Also, got a small rad that doesn't wanna heat up. No air in it - can only think it might be a stuck TRV?

Check the valves , check the pump turn it up , is there no way of changing the bleed plug entirely ? ~I have managed it with nose pilers before and a dentists mirror.

Unfortunately on the rad with a stuck bleed valve there is no mounting to remove, just the bleed screw in the rad - wich it was a modern rad with a nut to remove the whole lot!

As for the cold rad, I can only assume that the TRV is stuck or else there is an air lock in the system somewhere - all other rads heat up perfectly though!
