I need to fit a sump pump in a basement which occasionally lets some water in. A builder is digging a hole in the basement at the low point for any water to collect and he wants a sump pump fitted. I think I will be fitting a Grundfos Unilift KP 150. There is a soil stack nearby to connect on to, via a dry trap. What is the best way to pipe it up. Grundfos have said it can be rigid or by hose. Has anyone fitted one in a permanent situations and how did you run the outlet?

I am worried that a hose will look terrible and that hard piped in plastic may not cope well with the potential vibrations. Maybe I am overthinking it a little bit!

I’ve done one using rigid 2” pipe and I used a fernco coupling around 2’ out the ground just incase of any vibration

Rigid would be fine as long as both the pump and pipework are well supported. You tend to get as bit of a shunt in the pipework as the pump stops and water falls back down the pipe toward the NRV. Ive just fitted a drain major which is similar to a sump pump and that was all in 2" rigid.

I piped one in copper and it just pumped up and outside the building. The basement had been fully lined with plastic egg shell type material.
Was ages ago so I can’t remember the pump model.
