hot taps not running, used hose between cold and hot to push air out but doesnt seem to be working any ideas ??

did this happen after you where working on the system ?
if you turned the water off at a gatevalve, maybe it broke, ie it's jammed shut

if there's a storage cistern in the loft, check it's full with water, maybe the ballvalves jammed or the orifice is blocked.

Try draining the cylinder to see if it runs through the loft tank, this proves the valves etc are open and the pipes aren't blocked, if it refills the loft tank then you drain the cylinder, shut the feed into the cylinder for 2-3 mins, then open the valve back up and close the drain valve, open the hot tap and see if it comes through when it is full, if it doesn't come out the hot tap and the loft tank stops filling there is still a prob

okay my neighbour decided to do some repairs himself (i know) fixed the problem but didnt open taps on refilling, i cannot find a non return on the system , and due to mixer taps in bath and sink downstairs i am only left with cw in basin taps in bathroom for trying to push the air back out . I too suspect the valve from the cws tank upstairs in the loft/attic and wondered if there was any experience anyone could share before draining the hot water cylinder , but if i have to should there be a drain valve on the copper cylinder ?

i often get tank lagging foam in the tap body , it will not move , it sometimes hapsens months after somebody has worked on the cylinder, it will not suck out with a wet vac and will not blow back up with a hose, if it does go back up the pipes you are in more trouble than you were at the start , if i have a suspected air lock in a hot tap after somebody worked on the system take the tap body out to look for a blockage there , the last thing you want to do is push it back . (in my oppinnion anyway) id say your easiest opsion if you suspect the gate valve is to bung it upsairs in the tank and replace the gate valve!
