Hi, I hope this is the correct place to ask this.

I've been given a bunch of smart TRV's to put on my radiators at home. Mostly they've gone on fine (to these valves)

but 2 of my radiators have the manual valves shown in this image:

My question is, can I just remove that core and replace it with one of these:

to have them act as a TRV, or do I need to replace the whole unit?

Let me know if I need to give any more information to answer, and thanks in advance for any help.

If your sure the bodies are 1000% the same then yes
 
By the time you drain down, remove the valve bonnet, only to find the new threads are different or diameter different, it would be easier and safer to replace the valve.

The only common thing with radiator valves are the inlet and outlet threads. Anything inbetween is not common.
