Hi guys I put a new combi (worcester 24) boiler in during November and was sent back today as the customer said that the shower doesn't get very hot. I checked and they were correct it wasn't that hot. It was reaching the kind of temperature that would be nice in the summer - if that makes sense.

Water pressure fine.

4 bed mid terrace. No ensuite just main bathroom and wc downstairs. Boiler sizing issue?

Any general ideas what this could be?

Sorry just thought i'd add, the shower was similar to this but not this actual model.

Is it a thermostatic shower? Are all other outlets ok? You could do with getting a digital thermometer to actually get temperature readings.

All other outlets are fine. I'm not sure if it's a thermostatic shower to be honest, how would I know? Digital thermometer is something i will buy - will order it right now actually!

I didn't but I assume whoever went to quote did but haven't had a chance to check yet. I should have but it wouldn't have made a difference I would have had to fit it anyway :)

Does it get hotter if you throttle the flow back? If it does, its simply a consequence of going from stored DHW to instantaneous, in which case there isn't much you can do except fit a flow limiter.

Or rip out the 24 kW plastic fantastic and put a combi in not an over sink heater with built in ch. 24kw are a waste of time if you got more than a sink.

Sometimes its just a question of educating the customer.

Most people think that if they turn the control further, it will get hotter - just because they are used to turning up thermostats, volume controls etc.

Once they understand that the faster the flow, the cooler the water, they may be fine just using the flow control on the shower.

And if you successfully manage that, could you please nip round mine and explain it to Mrs S and Miss S?

if they do have to turn the flow down to get hw the boilers crap..24kw combis usually struggle with hw heat up at full bore even if the outlets near them. the plate heat ex is usually quite slim..would be a coincidence for the shower mixer to pack up just as you fit a little boiler..

Shower is single control.

Does anyone have a link to a flow limiter, I can't seem to find one. Not that's it's up to me but i can suggest fitting one if we have to go back.

unless its thermostatic the cold will beat the hot ( cos of the boiler). you could put valves on both hot and cold ( where possible) and adjust to find a sweet spot...if it is thermostatic ignore me and check the shower..
