Hi I have a bath unit with switch to alternate between shower and bath taps. Recently both shower and taps have started leaking. I believe it's due to the switch but cannot figure out how to dismantle the switch to check.
The taps control the water flow, the switch just diverts it to either the spout or the shower.
So the problem is with one of the taps. If the water is cold, it's the cold tap and vice-versa.
Probably a washer, if they're quarter turn taps then probably the ceramic cartridge.
Simples...
Great - many thanks. Having looked at the taps I can unscrew the base but cant get the base of the tap over the top and so an easy way to get to the inside ?
There's many different ways to disassemble many different taps. Possibly a grub screw is holding the handle part on. Have a good look at it, if you can't figure it out let us know the model of them.
When you unscrew the base can you see the brass hexagon part of the cartridge at the bottom? If so - you don't need to remove the tap handle part, you can just remove the whole top section, replace washer/cartridge then re-assemble.
After a quick check, these look like the same taps, but with a slightly different selector and different shower head, so if you can't figure it out maybe phone Bristan and ask them how to remove the head of a Bristan 'Axia' tap.
