A nice set of kitchen taps changed today.

Combi boiler, all simple to isolate, few small issues but completed in 1.5 hrs & £80

More please.

Don't know if I agree with that!!!

Why?, days would be half full as everything would be done in half the time.

The actual exchange of a tap is a bolt underneath and two water connections. 10mins if I am going very slow. (mixer tap assumed here)

Reality to these quick changes soon turn out to be in a house where no one knows how or where to isolate the water, clearing out the cupboard under the sink reveals a weeping gate valve that is shot. Finally deciding the tanks must be drained to find access to the loft is limited due to madams 37 summer dresses bagged up and covering the odd board in the loft. etc etc. Let alone squeezing your arse between a pedestal, toilet, bath and peering customer.

The longer a job takes the bigger the labour charge :)

I told the custard I wanted the cupboard empty.
My pet hate that, emptying, and then the custards moan about the length of time & cost!! Empty yourselves custards, save money.

Unboarded lofts or overly filled lofts grind my gears.

I'm with you on that!

Many years ago I was on call and got called out to a nailed pipe at 9pm I threw my hose pipe on the heating and started draining and went up in the loft to cap the mains to f and e tank as I opened the loft the tenant said there is a little bit of stuff up in the loft, a little bit was an understatement it was chocka and there was no way I could shift things across to get there so I capped the mains in the airing cupboard and walked out.
