Tapstat on cylinder?!? new shower pump

We have had change of shower pump recently and this is pump number 4 now in space of 5 weeks!!! The guy that did the job is i contactable obviously. I have had a plumber coming today and he said that in our case tapstat need to be installed as the water pumped by the main communal boiler definitely exceeds 65c .My question is, can a tapstat be installed on a hot water cyliner fed by comunall boiler that isn't controlled by the household?

Yes. But not be best practice. Best thing to fit is a high pressure motorized valve (Danfoss AMZ or Honeywell Vc4613) controlled by a cylinder stat. You can incorporate a timer or programmer into this setup too if you wish. You'll need a fused spur switch fitted in your airing cupboard.

Thanks for the reply. I've got that kind of valve on my comunal heating. Just spoken to salamander tech helpline and they also said that tapstat need to be used as the pump will overheat and turn itself off( one of the funky house pumps). Can you please explain why tapstat isn't the best practice? Cheers

Tapstat is older form of temperature control for your Hw . I don't think they're even legal anymore unless you're changing like for like. High pressure motorized valve and an accurate cylinder stat all fitted and wired properly is the best form of temperature control on a communal Hw primary circuit. Trust me, I work on district heating every day it's my job.
