Hi all
I Am doing a plumbing 6129 night course in september and was wondering what the best book for me to get a head start on it, also what is a really gd gas one.

you will need the JTL book, as that is the course textbook.
But as said Treloar is very good reading and covers plumbing and gas

Ok thanks a lot lads ill get them :D. Jus one more question you may know the answer to. Is the city and guiilds 6129 course what i need followed by a nvq 2 to be a qualified plumber on paper. I will be training with a qualified gas engineer as well.

The Acid House by Irving Welsh.

Read the short story A Blockage in the System. If you can get the very funny humour you might be suited for the work.

my college told us to get the jtl one(BLUE) which we have needed, but also the jtl revision guide(YELLOW) also seems to be better for the exams as the questions in that one are more like the ones you get in the exams

When it comes to the gas I would recommend the NICEIC domestic gas safety on site guides. The corgi ones most colleges give out are total crap. NICEIC are pricey but really good and easy to learn from. I hear Viper are good too but never had one. But when you are doing the 6219 the jtl pair of books will see you right no worries. They walk you pretty much through the course. Trealor are better, but not designed specifically for the course

The JTL ones cover everything you need on the course but nothing more. They have been designed with loads of colour pictures, diagrams and tables to make it as easy as possible to soak up the basics and get you through the course successfully.

Others, such as Trealor, cover a bit more ground but are more wordy.

Depends if you are focused on getting through the course or want a broader view of the subject.

IMHO
