Had to cap off a manky keston celcius / uv spa combo due to flue leaking in void.

Basically looking into alternatives to installing a new combi and having to rip out ceiligs etc to fit new flue and air pipes as current set is fitted within internal compartment. Done a few in the past and are not pleasant jobs.

So been wondering if it would be outrageously uneconomical to install a thermal store with immersions only but also supplying heat to rads when required. Taking into account that the flats are relatively new and usually so toasty that ch is rarely used.

Be keen to get any opinions on this set up and if it is likely to cause issues with tenants kicking off about lecky costs.
 
Would of thought leccy costs would be sky high for that setup. Plus how would you get it to keep the temperature maintained enough for hot water. Would have to be on 24/7 surely?
 
Only just started to properly take in the workings of these units and got the impression that they were super insulated and wouldn't be anywhere near as much heat loss as a normal cylinder chucking out large volumes of pre heated water. Would need to have power to the heater more or less full time.
 
Personally not a fan of anything running of electric for heating water unless it's a kettle. Just costs too much per kw to run.
Just give them a price for each and tell them how much it is to run each and let them decide.
