Hi.
I have a thermal store system, heated by Parkray log burner (LB) with a back boiler, and a Grant Oil fired (OFB) boiler. These have separate pumped circuits apart from the thermal store. Using the Grant OFB as the heat source is no problem.
The way its set up seems strange - when using the Parkray LB, the LB "hot stat" (stand alone) cuts in ok at hot temp set and starts the associated pump so water circulates thro LB and thermal store. Fine.
When the coal fired boiler dies the pump continues to run circulating water thro the LB. boiler and thermal store until the water has cooled enough, and the LB stat switches off. This takes a long time and also lowers residual heat in the thermal store which is wasteful/inconvenient.
If the programmer is on a "normal auto" programme, and the thermal store water is still hot/above LB stat temp setting (60deg.C), but below thermal store stat setting (90degC), the oil fired burner cuts in as it should, however the coal fired boiler pump then continues to run. I need a way of switching this pump off when no heat from the LB (could put manual off/on switch but....) suggestions on redesign welcomed
