Thermostatic shower questions

We're getting the bathroom re-done, and I would like to get a shower fitted. I've used the old style showers with the tube fixes to the bath tap, the push down lever to switch between the tap and shower, and you have to adjust hot & cold. They're rubbish, what's annoying if the pressure between the two changes- say someone flushes the toilet or uses the hot water tap elseware, or the hot water runs out it's either too hot, or too cold.

The old style boiler/water tank is being replaced with a combi. Do the new combi's have a pump which regulate pressure, so no matter what the two lines (and with combi's instant heat) and with a thermostat in line with the shower, will it provide electric shower levels of control?

I don't want the tap/shower combination, but can I get a seperate lever to control the shower? It's annoying with the tap/shower you need to change over, forget and you get a wet head (saying filling a bucket from the bath)

So do I just need a "thermostatic shower" kit?

I do prefer the look of a lever for the shower, compared to a seperate electric heater, it just looks more professional and clutter free. But if they're still rubbish then I'd have to get a electric shower.

As long as everything is on the mains all you need is a thermostatic shower. Dependant on the combi and water pressures/flow available you can still have problems with the shower running cooler/cold if outlets are used elsewhere in the house. To counter this you can use flow restrictors at all outlets.
