thermostatic shower valve info

We are installing a new Hansgrohe I-system thermostatic shower valve on the ground floor. I would like to know if it will be a problem if the cold feed is main pressure and the hot feed is from a tank in the loft. Is the pressure of the hot and cold must be equal or the shower valve will be able to balance it out.

I need to know if it is a straight NO NO or using a flow restriction valve or pressure reducing valve might be a possibility?

ive heard of the pressure reducing being done before but from the post above i agree, take a seperate balanced feed from your cwsc (tank) and you will be right

You'll struggle to get the cold mains pressure low enough with a pressure reducing valve. Standing pressure tends to creep up with a prv as well and this may cause some problems with backflow unless non return valves are fitted.

I've seen the gainsborough ambassador thermostatic shower mixer on this type of feed set up and it was fine. only changed the cartridge on it though so didn't see if there were any pressure reducing valves or non-return valves.
