Hi all
I havent posted before but feel the need to do so now...
Please could people let me know their experience of Gas Safe Isnpectors... I have had recent experience of one and didnt think he handled the situation very well at all..
I know its a bit like critisizing the police but I feel the need to speak out
After my inspection I felt as though I knew nothing about gas/heating and should go back to junior school
The guy was condescending, pompous and quite happy to embarrass me in front of the customer and above all left me feeling as though I would be better off working in Macdonalds
Is there a procedure to contest /complain about these untouchables? Or will my thread be removed before any engineers read it?
Please come forward with your opinions and experiences guys

Thanks very much

Jelboy

No need to worry about the thread being removed as Gas Safe don't own this site as far as I'm aware...yet:smart:

The Gas Safe inspector that signed off my probation was a nice guy. Asked a load of questions..corrected me on a couple of bits but generally was there to make sure I wasn't a danger to myself or others.

Sorry guys, got to go out on a call out... Will represent this thread later tho...

gotta be honest , although i was bricking my first inspection it turned out the guy was very down to earth and he did asked me loads of gas related questions but i answered them with no problems as he did it in such a way that i didnt feel under pressure. what questions couldnt you answer?

My inspection also went sound! tbh my inspector was totally sound, i called him about a few quieries since and been nothing but helpful, i found he wasnt there to catch me out! just put me right on little things really lol

My first inspection was fairly awful for a while and the inspector fairly proud that he was going to fail my installation because I had terminated the 32mm waste outside above the grating on a gulley which might get blocked up with leaves (picture a concrete jungle, a foot deep gulley, no trees in sight). I smiled and bit my tongue :wings: and the lady of the house was not in. We returned on the next visit and I was NOT looking forward to it again, but he was good as gold. Very pleasant, helpful and completely lacking the aggression and hostility of my first visit. I've no idea why- perhaps he felt the need to show me who was boss and tell me how great he was. Since then he's been great. Oh and he signed me off without any further visit or faults! :laugh3:
