I was doing a job in Shepards Bush the other week and painters there also doing decorating
I finished off late on the friday night and was sorting out the invoice and there was a knock on the door
The customer opened it ,to find one of the decorators with his son and four bottles of wine in his hand
Turns out while his son was there helping him,he had also helped himself to the wine and stuck it under his seat in the van, when the decorator found out he had marched him back round to return wine and appolozise, the customer thanked him and admited he would not have noticed it missing
The wife customer seemed ok about it but the husband was not very impressed and even though the decorater did the right thing,do'nt think he will be working there again, which I thought was strange as surely if he did this you know you can trust him
The right thing to do,but would you have done the same, risked loosing all the work,he could have just sneaked them back the next day but thought the lesson to his boy was more important.
I was that impressed I put the three bottles I had taken back too :D

Hi
It's always hard doing the right thing, but as they say what goes around comes around.

what a evil little git of a son,my career started because of my dad17 years ago.i would have never done some thing like that to cause him shame and embarrassement plus i dont like wine:)

sometomes i think customers test to see how trustworthy we are, went to one job last week capping out some rads, whilst bleeding up the system at the end of the day i saw an envelope on the dresser stuffed, and i mean really stuffed with £20 notes. there must have been a fair few grand in that envelope.

bet the customers went straight to it after i had gone, and counted it to make sure i hadnt taken a few notes on the sly, :D

That's a tough one. think he did right tho - the kid needs to learn!

I once found a wad of around £1,000 in a corner under some furniture. Went straight to customer and asked him to move it - bit too heavy for me ...

I'd have done the same thing, thieving little git! then I would have slapped him hard, not paid him and make him walk home.

I'd have had them back to work again.

I had the same problem with an extension I was having built the roofers apprentice decided that he'd help himself to my beer and smirnoff ices etc. He wasn't very bright though, he left the empties laying about.

When I worked on site, someone kept going into our fridge and stealing the milk, so one day we put a load of epsom salts in it, told everyone in our area and waited to see if anyone had to keep nipping to the loo....
