To vent coil - AAV or manual air vent?

Hi -

On a heating system some people install AAVs whilst some install manual air vents to vent the coil.

What is the recommendation? Is this area more prone to air than radiators?

it helps on initail commissioning, rather than to "get rid of air" if an area is constantly filling with air youve got a pipework vent/feed arrangment problem, leak or corrosion in the system causing hydrogen gas build up or a combination of the three.
aav for me every time although they can weep a very little and go a bit crusty.
btw Iam in Reading this week working, any recomendations of a b+b and places to go for a drink/ look at young women?.

As said you can use both ,however the advantage of aav is when filling and starting system up first time after filling the air is obviously released automatically through aav thus you do not get air built up in pump if located near cylinder,which is not good for pump,once sytem filled and settled auto vent can be closed,infact on the honeywell originial ones the body used to be twisted closed

manual air vents are best in this situation all aav's leak eventually and a well designed system should only need venting when filling
