Hi guys, i have a problem with my ball valve in my toilet.

It takes about 2 hours to refill after each flush.

Can anyone give me advice on how to fix this problem?

would be much appreciated?

thanks

:)

sounds like there is something sticking inside the body of the float valve where the water is fed in, it might be that the rubber diaphragm washer inside isnt being fully opened as the ball valve drops. you can isolate the water supply and take the assembly apart and have a look. there are spares available. failing that you can just renew the whole thing, although can be a pain if you have no isolation valve on your w.c

Is it new? If so, is it supplied with a flexible connector? If so, the connector might have been twisted too much to allow water to flow through it properly. (Bit like a kinked hose pipe.)

hey thanks guys. I did take the thing apart which was more difficult than expected as the toilet did not have a service valve on it and the gate valve on the distribution pipe has seized up.So i just wacked a sponge insede the tank connector on cwsc and then pulled off the push fit flexi connector and wacked a push fit stop end on it.

Turns out that the black washer was pushing too close to the orifice and so i had to cut the orifice a little bit.

Was there a better way of doing this?

Cheers for info guys!!!

Hmm

Yes the orifice size varies depending on the water pressure. What you have accidentally done by cutting the orifice back, making the inlet hole bigger, is turn a high pressure ball valve orifice into a medium or low pressure orifice.

Both of which you can buy as separate items from a plumbers merchants.

If the ball valve is supplied off a tank/cistern it may be okay, but if its off the main the chances are it may not leak until the night water pressure builds up.

Also make sure the orifice end is smooth and seats square to the washer.

Keep an eye on it for a while if it leaks go and buy a high, medium and a low orifice they are usually cheap, then just try the different ones till you get one you like.

cutting an orifice should not be done you lose a perfect surface for sealing against the rubber washer, this now needs replacement

fixing this could'nt be simpler.
only use the toilet every 121minuites.
sorted.

just thout for a sec,
remove cist lid and pss in there will be able to use 2wice an hour?
