Hi there

I'm having a problem with my toilet cistern. When the toilet is flushed there is a load noise which vibrates through the cold water pipes and I can only stop this by turning on a cold water tap. I've checked the ball valve and diaphragm in the cistern and they appear ok. Any suggestions would be of help.
 
1. Change the diaphragm. They go hard over time and tend to vibrate when opening and or closing.

2. If 1. doesn't work, fit a shock arrestor on the pipework to the WC.
 
Take apart fill valve, briefly turn water back on and off, to clear any sediment. Reassemble valve with new washer. Old washer might appear ok but rubber hardens with time.
