Hi could anyone give advice on this problem...

my push button toilet will not flush, I took the lid off the toilet and pushed the button again only to find that what i assume is the syphon (the long thing in the middle) will not lift up to let the water out... when the water refills after i let the water out by hand the water leaks from the bason into the toilet, so the system will not full refill!!! if this makes any sense could someone please give advice.

A picture would help. It depends what sort of flush valve it is.

Re: Toilet Syphon pic

Hi... i'm having trouble getting a pic on here... I had another look, it seems that its not sprining back up whn i push it down, god knows how the water is leaking through to the toilet from where the syphon is. :sad3:

Paul its cause its not returning to what id say is closed so the water will just run thou

i would say new part required as even a temp repear it will go again sooner or later

what area ya in?

North East... Middlesbrough, how much do you think it would cost to get a plumber or replace it myself

It should only take about an hour plus travelling time for the plumber and around £20 in parts. The cost depends on the hourly rate in your area.
