Hi all
Usually my work is domestic so tools are carried in & out of a house in a tool box. I have just secured some site work so wondered if the guys who do site work still use a box or a tool pouch ? If a pouch any recommendations ?
Thanks

Steve is right. Leave a box lying on a site and it will walk.
Tool pouches are ok. A nail bag does too. You only need minimum stuff. Slices, tape, hammer etc. Grips in the back pocket. A bucket for fittings and your lamp etc. Anything else you can go get from the van as you need it.

Aye things have definetly changed on site, never use to be like that, you just would'nt have stolen another tradesmans tools years ago, i use to leave tools lying about everywhere. Glad i no longer do site work.

no problems on the new build sites i have worked on the past 10 years unless you have been stupid. The trick is to only take to site what you need, leave the rest at home.

put all power tools in a big bag and move them to where you go to. When you get home you have one bag to take off at night. Do not charge batterys on site, leaving a battery on charge in the canteen (which is against health and safety) is asking for it to be stolen. Chain your generator to the scafold is another good tip.

if you have an apprentice then make sure he stays with your tools when you are sorting out problems or down the suppliers.

the problem with leaving tools on the van is unless your on a secure car park its more likely your van will get robbed then any tools on site. Many building site get tarrgeted due to the fact that while working apart from dinner/breaky breaks the vans are normally left alone for long periods.

trouble with a vest is they can get a bit heavey and tend to get a pair of grips in your ribs when you turn round to quick
pouches are ok till you need to work on your knees then they are a nuisance
best thing for site work is a black bucket and only put in what you need for each task
with site work its best to do just one job at a time dont hang and pipe rads better to hang 20 then go back with different tools and pipe them
