Hi, just been doing a bathroom for a bathroom shop, first time working for them. House has no central heating so an electric towel rail was going in. When I open box it's just a standard central heating ladder towel rail, but they d sent a heating element. When I ring shop they tell me to fit it ready for sparky. I'm told just fill it with water, it'll be fine , we do it all the time!!When i refused I was made to be difficult and awkward.
Just wondered if any bodies ever heard of anything like this, the more I think about it the more I can't believe it

Well if that's what they recommend...

Did you want some castrol gtx to come with it!?

I would fill it with water too but not all the way to the top leave a bit of space for expansion also too put some x100 inhibitor that's what I do I n ever had any sort of issues.

well you could wee in it to fill it up....there is a reason electric towel rails a oil filled..do i have to explain....surely not....or are we into the..covered till the cheque clears mentality ....

Think I've over reacted, looks like I'm going to have to go and fit it, I'm thinking element on constant, no stat, no room for expansion, all worst case scenario me, all doom and gloom

I have been told that there is no need to add expansion capacity inside an electric towel rail as the towel rad itself expands more than, or at least the same amount as the water when heated, given it is such a small volume.
