Hi all,

British Gas / Scottish Gas are looking to recruit enthusiastic, customer focused Trainee Gas Engineers to grow and become fully qualified within our Service & Repair business.

  • Field based in the Aberdeen area
  • Competitive basic salary
  • Rewarding benefits package including a van, all of your equipment, the latest laptop technology, paid holiday, comprehensive pension & share save schemes
  • Great career prospects.

Trainee Gas Engineer - Responsibilities

You will be required to attend our Hamilton training academy, staffed by trainers who have worked in the role themselves. You will work individually on the latest appliances and equipment in a realistic set-up and a spacious environment. You will work towards NVQ/SNVQ Level 3 under continual assessment (not final exams) by our army of qualified assessors both in the training centre and on real jobs in customers' premises. Training is on a block-release basis at the academy, with the remainder working with a qualified mentor which enables you to gain valuable experience on the district. When your training is complete, you will be required to achieve ACS accreditation and you will then begin a process of support and guidance designed to ease you gradually into the full role of a Technical Engineer.

Trainee Gas Engineer - Requirements

As a Scottish Gas Trainee Engineer you should hold a minimum of 2 years experience in an Engineering role (Gas, Electrical or Mechanical) and ideally hold an NVQ / SNVQ Level 2 or City and Guilds in an engineering discipline as well as have a full driving licence with 6 points or less for use within the UK.
