I am looking at becoming gas qualified/gas safe registered to hopefully take on/over work from a friend who is leaving the area soon. I am considering uk gas training/cts group
to do it through but would like to know if there is anyone who has any first hand experience of them.
Tried searching for reviews but can't find anything. They are offering acs accreditation for ccn1, cenwat1, htr1, ckr1 and cpa1, field training and onsite assessment, portfolio building, monies toward your first years gas registration fees, plus other bits. I have asked a customer who has his own large heating business who says that it looks good for the price quoted.

If anyone could give me any insite to them it would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Carl

where does the 'money to first years registration' come from then?.
surely if you are paying for the training then your paying the reg'.????

It will be within the cost but it's a gesture for commpleting the course with them that they give you some money back. The other option instead of the fees is to work as a gas safe fitter under their company for 3-6 months. Not sure on how this exactly works yet but it's all been positive so far.

Don't waste your money, seriously. For starters, they do distance learning and they don't even have a training centre. I know someone who wasted about £1500 trying to do it through them and he said it was an absolute joke. Their website tries to make it sound like it's this amazing tailor made programme, when in reality, it isn't. I can't emphasise enough, don't waste your money.

Howdoo Carl, well ive been through the private college courses, for 6128 and gas, as for the gas, i spent 6 weeks in college doing classwork and some hands on , its not until i managed to find a placement that things looked better for me, i did a full years placement for no money, but thats the way to do it, the acs exam is a tricky little devil but with good base of training it'll get you through. as for the portfolio i designed my own, the example you get to you is pants, my portfolio flew through by the way. i paid £3500 that was the course and the acs, ive heard some companies charge £1000, just for the placement, as for theres a shortage of plumbers, erm RUBBISH!! thers a bit of you havent done your time matey around, but not all he guys are like that, i wouldnt get any online tutor rubbish, go to college get a placement with a good engineer teaching you, you'll be fine.
thers a lot to learn and you'll never stop learning. im doing level 3 plumbing in this year and part p electrical, once ive done that i'll most prob do the commercial if i can afford it, just more maths to learn and bigger pipes and boilers .lol, set yourself a time limit and cost that you can manage, good luck chum, if i can be of help pm me,
