Hi. I have a colleague 37 years old who has qualifications in electronics and a pleasant personality, has worked for BT for some 18 years, dealing with house calls and public. He has expressed a need for change of career and considering the heating trade, wiring and fault finding on installations. Any thoughts on the way forward to achieve the transition of skill, and whether the market needs more technicians in this field?

He'll probably be the guy I replied to in an earlier post?

Dangermouse is right. With his background, tell him to get Part P registered and do electrics. He'll pick that up quick. Somtimes wish I was a sparks. They earn good dosh and their work is light & clean! Oh well, too late! :)

That said, I'm doing my Part P Qual soon, just so I have it.
