Hi all :D
I have been asked to fit a under sink water heater, can anyone give some advice on which is a good one
it can be either 10 or 15 ltr as it is only for 1 sink, and it needs to be able to be just plugged in to a standard 13amp socket/ringmain.
Cheers

They are all much the same really. Just depends on the budget or personal preference.
Aristons are decent enough and pretty cheap but remember you need an unvented ticket to fit the 15kw

Got a question about the heatre sadia under sink model, fitting a bathroom and there is an existing one ,customer still wants to keep it,but wants to replace the taps, the ones on the basin were fitted with the water heater and look like the venting type. Can i fit standard taps and add a prv,if i can what pipe do i fit it on?
cheers in advance

Only need unvented for over 15 with temp & press relief. 15 and under are ok without it.

I didnt that was so! I was under the impression that all unvented including under 15 litres is now under building regs but is not notifiable
and all have to be fitted with temp relief valve. Am I wrong? BTW, since when could you 'plug in' a water heater into a 13amp socket? surely fused spur only with heat resistant flex?

Not all ones under 15 litres dont require all the safety features, I had to install EV and PRV and CV to a 10 Litre Aquapoint undersink multipoint water heater as it was dripping from T&P Valve due to expansion and MI's show clearly that you need safety devices fitted unless nearest draw off point was more than x amount away.

Yeah, they can be a pain in the bum.

I replaced one recently in an office. With a Hyco, (good little unit).

The old water heater had no PRV, expansion and wan't to regs. So I had to squeeze it all in, which in a small WC aint easy. Hyco 10litre unit is about £90 and the expansion vessel is about £30.

ok so if i read it right you can (hard wire, switch spur outlet) direct from the ringmain?? or do they need to have their own supply like an electric shower ?? again 10 ltr just to do 1 sink, it will be easier to fit one with vented tap, so any recomendations chaps
Cheers

Tamz is right, DON'T ever think normal taps are suitable for unvented systems. Trouble is that almost all Vented taps are both expensive and rubbish at the same time. You can find top quality that are both easy to fit and maintain if you look hard enough.

pretty sure i read that new bldg regs part g came out last year, all unvented storage vessels, including under 15litres must have safety devices fitted and you need an unvented qual as no exemptions now but maybe you've read an interpretation more detailed than i have. anyone else on here confused by this?
