i looked at an lpg job the other day and the customer needs his undergroung pipework upgrading to pe pipe for some reason part of it underground is already pe but not the vertical part from the tanks into the ground which is what he wants replacing

is it ok to weld pe if the weld is sited underground or is it better to lay a whole new supply pipe
 
If the right techniques/fittings are used then i can see no reason why welds cannot be used. I presume you are talking about fusion welding? If so,it would be just the same as that used on gas services.
 
It's not our responsibility any more. It's the suppliers. So you wouldn't need to replace his galv for him

You can't fusion weld or use any fittings unless properly trained. I believe you can fit the compassion fittings as pe pipe is covered under up/2

If you are that worried call ur local inspector out. Ours can be really handy on obscure jobs like this

The part going into the ground needs to be steel. Better speaking to his supplier who will keep you right.
