went to a customer saturday at 7pm,
she needs a new 3 port valve, rad valve and trv's

She was very weird and said she thought it could be easily repaired!!
I then gave her price for all work and she said "how much, this system seems to be costing me loads of money at the moment"

I know for a fact that I am cheaper then most other companies in my area and price was cheap seeing how it will involve drain down, new valves, i.e.

I am now unsure wether to go back or not as she is bound to complain about small things and not want to pay any extra if it goes over (even though she is getting a bargain already) and she asked for price and then asked for some extra work once I had quoted.

Really cant be bothered with hassle and as its the last day my son is off school, I wouldnt mind spending it with him, what would you guys do?

oh and she already has a plumber so even more worrying as he is bound to slate my work when he comes back in few months (apparently his mrs is having a baby) and she will be emailing me in 6 months saying my work is bad, trading standards i.e.

or am I just being a lazy git?

if you got the feeling walk away however i like a challenge and no one gets away with slating me

Do you really need the wedge or the kudos.
If not then enjoy your day off with your son, they won't last forever.

Work or spend the day with your boy? Sod the job mate, with work there's always tomorrow.

The old spidey senses never go far wrong. The other way to approach it is to point out that the price given didn't include the bits added on afterwards.

That's the beauty tho, it's your choice. Personally in that situation I would have gone ott on the price, then if you do it, you do it with a smile no matter how much she moans.

Just bump her Jase, if job comes off you have plenty of £££££ etc, and room to knock some off when she moans about something......

It's a real shame that people are like this. It's one of the reasons I stick to my contract work. I get a couple of phone calls a week asking me to do jobs and I never do them.

Unfortunately as people have less money at the minute, more and more people are like this.
If it happened to me on a private job, I know I'd walk away, but that's me.

I did a job the other day for BG and knew that the bloke wasn't right from the off, had to service his boiler, fire and hob.

Did the boiler, no problems and the same for the hob. I'd been in his house over an hour by now and I knew something was amiss with him.

Then I got to the fire, he told me it hadn't been service in the six years it was in. He was really really pushy about this fact.

It was an inset fire and it was spotless all over. Even behind the fire in the chimney was fine. Anyway I cracked on, put it all back together. Then went to take a burner pressure and the nipple(like one on a gas meter) fell off when my screwdriver touched it. It was held in place by silicon. I capped the fire and explained to the bloke that as it was a one off service and it was like it before I got there it wasn't covered. He was fine with this.

Get to my next job and the manager is on the phone asking what had happened, the bloke was now on the phone saying I had deliberately destroyed his property. He has watched me find this siliconed test point and watched it fall apart infront of me. But now he was complaining.

Unfortunately, there is no way to prove that I was right and he was wrong, or vice versa. FairPlay to BG, they fit him a new fire for free, but they shouldn't have really as he was a stone cold liar.

But like I say, people are nasty out there now and have no conscience, but its just the way it is.

Should've been on phone to manager as soon as it dropped off and got pics of the silicone IMHO. What a tosser, why was he even touching it?

I don't think he did. I think he'd had it serviced by someone and they broke it. The part was obsolete and I think someone's told the bloke to get BG or someone to service it and sting them.

Classic. Ah well, it's not like they can't afford it.

yep, if you've got that feeling, then probably best to leave it.

why are you putting 'i.e.' at the end of your paragraphs?

FOLLOW YOUR INSTINCT,

its there for a reason, rarely lets you down, even if it does, instinct is right way more than its wrong.

ALWAYS gets my back up, 'my usual plumber is ............'

I say 'do you want me to do it or wait for him?' choice is yours.

I always get 'OH no you do it'

Its all bull:20:

long forgotton latin...

etc is short for et cetera, and means "and so on" or "plus a load of similar things".

i.e. is short for id est, and means "that is" or "in other words"

e.g. is short for exemplum gratia (ok, I admit I had to google that one) and means "for example"
