Hi,

Last year we lost my Dad to cancer year, who was a plumber for 30+ years. Over the years he built up quite a collection of tools and plumbing equipment, literally filling up two brick-built sheds.

But now my Mum wants to move and we need to empty the sheds. We're not plumbers so we don't have a clue what most of the things are, but there are all manner of pipes and fittings which we don't want to just throw away.

My Mum lives in Hornchurch in Essex so if you are local and want to come round and look through what we have please get it in touch! It's either that or it will all end up in the skip, which is a shame, there are taps and all sorts of things still in their boxes.

Thanks,

Graeme

...or Shpock.

If there's alot of copper and brass in the form of tubing, fittings and taps etc fill a few bins and find or call your local metal merchants as they'll probably collect fi there's enough. It's your best bet getting something for their scrap value at this time rather than dealing with individuals.

That's exactly what I was thinking too, thanks I will definitely do that.

If there is that much maybe other local plumbers will make you an offer however if you don`t know what you have you can`t value it.

I don't know any local plumbers, that's the problem. I was hoping I'd post a message on a forum like this, and one or two people who are local could just come round and take a look. I'm guessing Facebook might be a better option, but I don't do Facebook.

Would be better to call them, leave a message if you have to.

My mum just needed to get rid of it, so she ended up paying someone to come and take it away. Honestly, there was so much stuff, we're not talking a few bits.

We would have loved someone to have used the plumbing bits, so much of it was brand new. He had so many pipe fittings and other stuff, once we'd emptied the shed and laid it out on tarp in the garden, it probably covered an area of about 20 metres long.

There were new toilets, taps, boxes and boxes of screws, elbows, adaptors of all kinds, oh the list was crazy. Most of his tools we sold through FB, so she ended up making a bit of money and wasn't out of pocket, and we still have a huge amount of scrap metal to somehow get to a metal yard.

But I know if a plumber who did the same sort of thing my dad had seen what he'd accumulated over the years he would have had a field day.
