Hi all,

I'm new to the site and to the trade, I am slowly growing my tool collection but want to know what's good and what's not. Don't mind spending the money on them but if there is a cheaper alternative but still just as good would rather go that way.

buy some quality pencils and a thick skin. then check out the tools section on the forum :)

welcome to the forum.

Tools will be one of your best investments try to tailor your kit to the work you expect to do and try to buy the best you can afford and remember it's not a race take your time and buy only what you require to do the job best of luck......regards Turnpin:17:

Great advice from turnpin. We all love buying the fancy tools but as said try to buy what your going to need the most to start with then build your kit around it. When i first started i got myself the basic hand tools and built up from there, levels and all that. Didn't get a drill straight away nither, used the lad who trained me. Don't know your situation but when i was an apprentice i didn't have my own van so was only so much i could take with my anyway so just had a box full of tools, drill and a 2 foot level, then when i new was going to be getting a van started building up a full kit. hope this helps.
