Does anyone know of any problems with the main heat exchangers on this vailant been to brother inlaws losing about a bar over night with no signs of a leak I have pulled the burner out and there is quite a bit of rust in the condense sump spoke to vailant and they say it should not have that much rust in it could be a leak on the heat exchanger cheers kev

any rusty stains on the heat exchanger? i have heard of this fault once on this boiler, but it was a aeration problem, loop on full!

I have not come across this before last one i did was a worcester that was a dead giveaway when you turned the filling loop on it just all came out the condense on the vailant i have fitted an extra expansion because the rad sizes have been increased and fitted new safety valve the condense is the only place i can think the water is going for how much water it has lost over the last three weeks there would be a definate mark on the ceilings somewhere i have put a leak sealer in today see how that goes overnight

I would first isolate the flow and return on the boiler and leave overnight. That will tell you if it's at the boiler or somewhere on the system.

Def not losing it through PRV then as you have changed it, correct?

Does it lose pressure when no heating is on? If it only loses pressure when heating is on then you know it's to do with expansion. If you say there is loads of rust in the system, then you need to check expansion vessel diaphram has not rotted. Also check pressure of expansion vessel to insure as per manufacturers inst.

Yes checked pre charge plus added extra expansion vessel i thought of disconnecting boiler and pressure testing to six bar for an hour because it is a conventional boiler it doesn't have isolators on like the other vailants cant isolate supplies to downstairs or upstairs because there on a common return under the floors don't want to start cutting out chipboard floors because they start losing their strength the house was extended two years ago so system is a mix of everything typical didn,t get chance of doing the job originally but end up having to sort it out dont you just love relatives especially when they are millionaires 🙂

love your signature quote Darryl 😀 Hopefully you will be making some out soon !

Seems like Vaillant build quality maybe is decreasing daily, way of the world 🙁
