Got a vaillant ecotec boiler and it makes an awful noise sometimes which stops when the hot water tap is turned on, boiler is fully serviced and clean, couldn’t get it to replicate for the last service so the engineer couldn’t find anything wrong!
Your engineer needs to revisit and adjust the co2 on low rate on the gas valve , also check on high rate this is can only be done by GSI with a flue gas analyser. Kop
Thanks guys for the advice, I wouldn’t say the noise sounds like a trombone, more like a rattle/rumble noise, I’ll ask the plumber to check the low C02 settings, cheers
If it was a rattle and hum i'd say it could be U2.
If this rumble is like water boiling then it won't be combustion as I first suspected. Your Engineer needs to hear/witness it as you know but he/she should be able to solve it once they have.

I know its been a few years but hoping you see this.. have this issue and the sound does remind me of a loud Trombone.. Is it the Co2 thing mentioned below?
