Quick question.

On the vaillant ecotec's, if there is white dust on the ignition lead next to the platic air intake is it that the door seal needs replacing?

Thanx

Very likely, do you mean combustion seal ?? You can test with match but don't burn your fingers !!
How old is boiler ? have the seals been replaced before ?? Do not leave this Bob otherwise you may not have much of a boiler left & check cover plate for warping when replacing seals.

I take it you are Gas Safe Registered ? You need to be to work on these !!

Sorry, combustion chamber!!!
Yes gas safe.
Changed seal anyway, the very fine white dust was on the ht lead.must be from the combustion chamber.

I think the way of telling if the seal has been replaced is by the bolts, which have to be changed at the same time and are nylon thread locked. Have you ever seen one that's had the seal failed? Not pretty!

I have a Vaillant ecotec 831 and have just been told by the guy who may service it that it will require a burner gasket at 5 yrs old!!

Is this correct.
