Hi,

Hope this is in the correct forum and that someone can help.
I have a fairly new Vaillant EcoTec plus 824. Yesterday when I got home I saw that the wireless heating programmer/thermostat had gone pop and I now have no way of turning the heating on. I have been looking through all of the instructions but they are not very easy to understand unless you have installed a few of these (I only do small plumbing jobs/no boilers).
Does anyone know how I can turn the boiler on/off just so that I can heat the house up until I can replace the thermostat?
I did manage to warm the place up a bit by pressing + & - buttons on the boiler display together so that it runs through a testing program but this only lasts a few minutes.

BTW the control is a Siemens RDJ10RF Series A and has been playing up the last couple of months before conking out. It's not even a year old

Thanks for any help.

Terminal 4 on the pcb is the switched live for the central heating. If one disconnects any wires from terminals 3 and 4 and insulates them, then connects a small bridging wire between these two terminals the central heating will be on whenever the boiler is turned on.

I did see that in the instructions but was hoping there would be another way. If that is the only option I'll go for it but hopefully will get a thermostat sorted today or tomorrow. Had to happen just before a week of arctic weather!
