Vaillant has been my boiler of choice for years but I am getting fed up with their poaching of my customers and better than thou attitude. I was thinking of trying Baxi HEA range, what is your expert opinion of this boiler and what is the difference between Duotec and Platinum apart from the warranty.

Gasman one of the forum moderators , he would be the man to give you advice on the ones your looking at,

cracking boilers, very few issues, time proven only difference between the 2 are warranties, get yourself registered here works loyalty scheme

The Hea had some issues when first released. Pcb, fan and flue issues, but to be fair pretty solid once they sorted theses issues. The back up isn't as good as Vaillant though.

If the boiler goes in a bedroom or bedroom cupboard they are a little noisy in my opinion i would fit them away from sleeping areas otherwise they are ok 10yr warranty hard to beat

I've not had a lot to do with newer baxi. Worked on hundreds of back boilers over the years. . I will say for all the break downs I get its never newer baxis and I have plenty customers who have baxi wall hungs. Ok the bbu are not so efficient but at least folks got 30 year out of them and only ever needed to replace a thermocouple or pump. Yeh they don't make em like they used to.

had a cust saying this yesterday they have a cdi fitted only four years old and previous plumbs never installed it properly so they ave had a few issues.

Cust was saying that they wish they kept the old back boiler as nothing went wrong with it

Just gone back to fitting bosch and baxi, as group service scumbags were poaching customers.

i find back up excellent, though not had baxi out in 3 years

Vaillant do Saturday and sunday calls, nearly always next or even same day. No longer than five to ten minutes on the phone. Never quibble regarding sludged boilers, yes I've had a few of those even though I did good flushes.
ive only fitted two or three Baxi,s in the last year or so, but when I was fitting them they took forever to answer the phone and two or three days to come out.

they dont argue on sludge, but that should not be a issue anyway, personally i think its wrong to expect manufacturers to stump up if sludge has caused it ,secondly if your in works you get next day service, xmas day and new years day being the exception, thirdly baxi are hard on there service people if they dont fix it on visit 1

Sounds ok, I'm still on the works scheme.i thought they'd have kicked me off it. I was on the website as an installer, used to fit over fifty a year.

I've had sludge diagnosed many a time. Best one was full re pipe and new rads boiler in garage with a Magnaclean. Wnkrs
