Was in merchant's today & saw a copy of a letter from Vaillant. It was to a owner of an 8 year old boiler telling them the "advantages" of installing a new ecoTec thru their installer partner for "from just £17 per month". Oh, and offering their support service for £17 pcm. The layout of the letter makes me think copies have been sent to everyone on their warranty list.

I'm not that keen on Vaillant anyway (overly complex to repair & their help desk too keen on replacing parts - but that's another story) but this makes me really angry. Their lack of loyalty to the installer is breath taking. Their lack of confidence in their own product is really sad. And I can't even boycott them as I dont fit them anyway.

If anyone asks, I'll try to post a copy of the letter

Perhaps not a scam in the sense of "The Hustlers" but a scam because they're abusing their indtaller base and their customers. The installer base is abused because their future income stream is being appropriated so why should they install Vaillant. The customers because the manufacturer is trying to sell a new boiler on spurious efficiency grounds, long before it should be necessary. That's why I regard this as a scam.

I really hope this is not how all the boiler manufacturers see the future of their advertising!

Theres already a thread started on this subject ? I think in the public gas forum maybe !

It's nothing new a few of the big boys do it , I know some lads not even registering there warrantys now , they can check of the serial at a later date if needed
