Hi everyone,

Any tips on loosening an outside stopcock that looks like it has never been used lol.
I lifted up the cover and it has a fair bit of mud around it but was wondering id i soaked in in wd40 for 24hrs before i go there on saturday whether this will help.
I think i might invest in a stopcock pole to loosen it as i think by hand will not budge it.

Cheers everyone

A large tap key is a must mate, I've a few as there are different types of taps as you know. Don't know if WD40 is gonna help, but having the right key will enable you to get a bit more purchase on it. Failing that, ring the water board and see if they will replace it 🙂

Had the same thing today.Only popped round to a bathroom id fitted last week to put a diff valve on the shower feed.Turned water off,20 mins later come down to kitchen floor swimming in water, stopcock leaking.Eventually found the stopcock outside after 2hrs searching, found it in a back garden 8 houses away.Went to turn it,no joy :-(.Ended up getting Severn Trent out,6 hrs later they replaced the stopcock,i replaced the customers stocock & i was on my way-Started at 9am,left at 6.30pm...
Im sure theyll be many more of these jobs to come.Think the funniest part of the day,was the womans face as Seven Trent guys tore her garden to bits-serves her right for building a rockery over the stopcock :-D
