HI EVERYONE,

MY BRO IN LAW RECOMMENDED THE VIPER GAS BOOK FOR ME AND IM FINDING IT HARD TO GET HOLD OFF AT A DECENT PRICE, DOES ANYONE KNOW WERE I CAN GET ONE AT A GOOD RATE OR IF THERE ARE ANY SIMILAR TYPES OF MANUALS? I HAVE SEARCHED EBAY, AMAZON ETC.

THANKS

DAN :confused::D

Agreed that the viper is a good book.
I thought that they stopped printing the book and just doing downloadable format, but I may be wrong.
I know when I bought mine a few years back,it was a lot of money, but well worth it.

The other manual that is essential is the Corgi Essential gas. Has everything in there that is needed, although not as much as the viper book has, in respect of pictures etc.

Graham

Hi Graham,

You can still buy the viper gas version from vipergas.com for around £90 but it printed in big ring binder folder now and my bro in laws is a paper book type which i prefer. i guess im just going to have to pay out arnt i lol :p:D

anyone else got any ideas??

im using the bpec one, its only £38 +vat and its virtually the same.

hi dan, google bpec and you will see there site, all the books available are listed on there.

hope this helps.

viper a5 ring binder book with 1 year website and technical back up membership with full access to all other manuals for download= approx £90

better with the bpec version and cheaper, also try treloars gas book

is this the same as the niceic?. thinking of getting one of those or the corgi myself.
where do you get the bepec ones?.

the niceic book is brilliant, theres two and they are about £45 each, very very good though, i have both

the bpec book is very good but the latest version has about 15 mistakes in it, not a prob if you are delivering the material as you should know, but not great if you buy the book as a student as you wont know what the mistakes are

The BPEC version is very good.
Maybe kirky can enlighten us as to the errors it has.

what are the mistakes? any obvious ones? have you notified bpec

there are typos all the way through it, yes i have contacted bpec, not sure if they will do much about it, dont have my book at the house, so cant tell you what they are off the top of my head, i have them marked in my book and when the new students get issued with their book i tell them there are mistakes through it and i will tell them of the changes as we go through it, some are in the text and some are in the tutorial Q & A's.

Hi
The viper books are good, but if you have an iphone or other smartphones you can have the all the books on your iphone through there mobi web site everything is there, it's great to just carry your iphone with everything you will need with a few taps on a phone.
You have to join vipergas costing £49.00 for a single user for a year. They are also devloping an app, so that if you can't get on the web all the info will be in the phone it self.
As they say don't take my word for it, go to there website they have demo of how it all works.

so its mainly typos? thought you meant content

Treloars, Oh My God!!! that name and book brings back some memory's, I have not heard that name since my apprenticeship, great little plumbing book. as for the gas book I tend to find its always best to use whatever book your training center teaches from. so find that out and your half way there, I got the viper book and the center used a CITB binder thing, I had to buy that too just to know what everyone else was talking about, so don't waste your money, ps the vipper book is great, but in the field I only ever use the Corgi's gas essentals and gas rate pocket slide and gas safes pocket unsafe procedures book.

no there are wrong dimension on diagram of depth of cover req'd when burying pipes in concrete, wrong figures in discharge rate example, cant remember any others

have you fed back to em kirkgas? do you teach this full time?

sent an email last year, then the new books were delivered in A5 size with the same mistakes in it!! yes I teach the bpec Gas Foundation course full time, we are a bpec centre so use the book, but we also use some other bits and pieces that have been built up over a period of time,

Has anyone heard of the Logic4Trade domestic gas manual if so is it any good?

logic4trade.co.uk

Thanks
