I just installed a vokera compact . The problem is the connection were you screw the gas valve onto the boiler ( not internal gas valve ) keeps leaking I have tightened it as must as possible and applied jet blue to the fiber washer and it still leaks gas. I am going to change the washer tomorrow . The question is can you use a rubber washer in this situation or do you have to get a pacific rubber washer for gas .

All the pipework is square and plumb to the valve . So there is no stress applied to the connection.

Well that sounds like a pulling hair out job.....!

Are you sure the nut aint split?

My engineer has reported to me it sounds a bit suspect . I am going tomorrow myself to investigate. Can I use a rubber washer on gas

It'll invalidate any manufacturers warranty if push comes to shove I'd say. There is no reason why the supplied gear shouldn't be ok. specially if paste has also been used! I'd personally be looking for the nut being split. Dodgy manufacture or over zealous engineer!!

This particular engineer always seems to give me issues. If the nut is split I will have to look at his position because there is no reason why a nut should be split especially on gas.

i would use a fibre washer rather than rubber i think what we refer to as rubber washers on gas are actually a plastic called nitrile theres some issues with rubber and gas or is my memory playing tricks again

You should use a fibre washer otherwise it wont be as designed by the manufacturer and if anything goes wrong, its you in trouble.

Didn't Baxi Eco's have rubber (nitrile) washers on the gas?Or was I putting the wrong washers on the wrong valves? As mfgs says,if you use the wrong materials,it's your bum on the line. You could talk to Vokera,I've always found them extremely helpful and understanding.

are we all taking this idea that only whats supplied can be used?would you condem a boiler if you lost a screw whilst servicing and the manufacturers no longer had any
were supposed to be experienced tradesmen able to work safely and be able to make decisions thats what all the training is for
