Hi,

I was hoping you guys might be able to help me here.

I was topping up the boiler the other day and got distracted and it ended up passing 3 bar. The PRV kicked in but didn't seal properly and as such I bought a new one and fitted today. There was the inevitable (I'm an amateur) water, but not lots as the pressure was at zero. I towel dried it and then used a heat gun (from a distance and on a low setting) to dry out the boiler. I checked the PCB and it seemed dry to me even before towel etc. Switched the boiler back on and it seemed fine for about 5 minutes. Then it displayed the jumper fault code 55 while the fan was whirling away. I switched it off and reset it only to find that there was no light, no digits lighting up on the outside of the control panel. You'd think it wasn't plugged in but, the fan whirled away like nobodies business and would still be going now if I hadn't disconnected it from the mains. Before I did that though I checked that power was reaching the PCB with a multimeter.

So, does it sound as though I need new PCB, or is there an issue with the fan?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks Ross

I'm not touching the gas side of things. It is the PCB I'm enquiring about.

The case forms part of the combustion seal. You shouldn't be removing it unless you are a GSR.

The PCB is directly connected to the gas valve, fan and safety interlocks. You shouldn't be touching it unless you are a GSR.

Turn it off and do yourself a favour.

We cannot and will not give advice on the installation or repair of boilers, cookers or ANY gas appliances for your own safety.
