Hi all,i'm arf
got a bungalow with an attic conversion. i want to stick a couple of rad's upstairs and i'm wondering if it's possible to come of the existing system downstairs. it comprises of a baxi bermuda back boiler- a grundfos UPS 15-50x18 pump-22mm pipe to matrix, running 8mm micro feeding 7 rad's. i recently tapped of the 22mm with 15mm to an extra rad in the bedroom. was wondering if i could feed of the 15mm at groundlevel then reduce to 10mm to shoot it about 11ft upstairs......can this be done.
many thanx,arf

There is no reason why you should not fit some rads up in the roof conversion to give your self some heating

The main thing is the height of you header tank, this is the small tank that fills and keeps the system full of water, obviously this has to be higher than the new radiators you are fitting or the will not fill, so it may require lifting from its present location, extending pipework as required

You also have the option of doing away with the tank if no space and fitting a pressurisation kit, with expansion vessel, you will have to fit a high limit thermostat to the boiler though if not fitted already, which would not have thought it is

Also if you are extending the system, with smaller bore pipework, make sure nice and clean, give it a chemical flush if required and a bit of balancing maybe needed
