I am building a new house and the plumber has put two sinks, dishwasher and washing machine into the same waste pipe! Is this allowed regarding building regs? Is there a limit as to what you can put into one pipe?
 
By two sinks do you mean a twin sink?

It is common practice to use a proprietary fitting under a sink to take waste from another adjacent sink bowl, dishwasher and washing machine both connected above the trap.

This would be the limit - you shouldn't put anything else into it.

One shouldn't link a bath, shower or basin into the same pipe however.
 
When I mean two sinks I mean one that is in the kitchen which is close to the dishwasher then another sink which is about 5meters away in the utility room which is next to our dishwasher.
 
If it works and has been passed by the building inspector I shouldn't worry.
 
I would not be two happy about two sinks and two appliances depositing into a 1 1/2 waste pipe going outside,even if waste increased in size ,would prefer each sink running seperatly to outside if possible

and if you are relying on a 'run of the mill' building inspector on issues,it could quite easily end in tears 🙁

what size is the waste pipe?

Building inspectors never seem to have any knowledge in plumbing. Its not the kind of thing they would look for.
 
well if it passed it passed. I personaly would have done it in 2". i wouldnt be to happy with a long 5meter run in 1" 1/2 with 4 branches.
 
The issue may be with the architect Re. drainage. If provision was made local to proposed sinks with 100 mm drain/ back inlet gullies your worry would not have arisen. Good Luck
