Water dribble when soldering

I'm a complete notice and I working on my heatings motorised valves on my S plan system. I was modifying the system to add an arrester. Long story short, I made a bodge of the soldering due to persistent tiny water dribbling in the pipe being soldered which I overlooked despite the system being drained. How does one get around this? I heard of people using bread but that won't work here I won't be able to retrieve anything from the pipe afterwards.

warm all the pipe first, to dry it out.

Cool. I didnt think of that. I wonder if I left it dribble for a few hours, maybe it would run out of water so to speak

Could be or you could try using a wet vacuum to suck it out and quickly solder etc

Using bread is fine as it just dissolves in the water when filling so you dont need to remove. You don’t need t use a full loaf though just enough to soak it up to stop the drip. But failing that as already stated use compression

Or press fit.

Or get a small bore hose, insert in to pipe and blow/suck the dribble, then solder quick before it comes back.

Or open a drain off/compression near by to divert the drip.
