I have water hammer when I run cold water anywhere in my flat.
I can only hear it in the cupboard that houses my OSO water tank that was fitted a couple of years ago. This is also where the supply enters the flat.
This could have been happening for some time as I rarely go into this cupboard whilst water is running.
I don't know if the problem existed before the plumbing was altered when the tank was fitted.
cheers.

Water hammer occurs when taps are closed off suddenly or when washing machines & dishwashers demand water and then the valve closes.

It’s the force of the rushing water within the pipework stopping suddenly. If you have loose pipe work, water hammer will cause these to judder/shack/vibrate.

Loose knocking pipework its self does not constitute water hammer.

Obviously this only applies to taps/items that are mains fed.

Do as Dannypipe suggested and ensure all pipe work is secured and take it from there, eliminate one thing at a time.

One way to check it is water hammer, turn on a tap and slowly turn it off...........do you get any banging???

Saying that tho 'rythmic pulse/knocking when water is running' in my opinion does not sound like water hammer:confused::confused:

If I remember correctly, when the OSO DIRECT 20 RD was fitted I was told the expansion tank was "inbuilt".
The old cylinder had a large vessel on top.
There is no external vessel as far as I can see.
Though the manual shows where it should be on the diagram-between the pressure reducing valve, (including check and expansion valve)
and the drain cock.
Hope this extra info helps with the diagnosis!
Cheers People.

I solved a similar problem recently at a call back. Was pulling my hair out with it and in the end it was the stop tap was only partially open. This was water hammer though real clatter when tap switched off suddenly. The hubby went to turn off the outside tap and turn the main off and only put it on about a turn open.
