Yesterday i turned off the water at the mains and empty the down stairs taps and removed them and put stop ends on the hot and cold pipes i then turned the water back on and run all the taps in the houseto get out any air locks. Today i have noticed that all the hot water taps when turned on stay hot for a few seconds then go cold then hot then cold and so on. Now i am stuck to what the problem is, i didnt turn the boiler off while i was changing the taps could this cause a problem? or is it an air lock? i am now stuck so help please?

You've tripped the anti DIY switch in the boiler and it will now cost you a £500 call out to have it reset.

Seriously unless you give us some sort of idea what sort of system you have we can't give any help. (May not be able to help afterwards but stand more chance)

Well first thoughts are you've inadvertently dislodged some muck that's clogged up the boiler? Has the amount of water coming out of the hot taps reduced at all? Is the cold supply fully open and flow back to the way it was before you turned it off?

both hot and cold taps flow fine just seems to keep changing temprature was not sure if me leaving the boiler on and empty the water out of the pipes would cause a problem or not?

If it has it's been unfortunate mikey83 ... I'd get someone in to check out the boiler operation ... maybe a service if it hasn't been done for a while then slip in the issue with the hot water .. that way you get a 'free' diagnosis :)
